Raquel Mavecq is a dance artist, instructor and researcher of the body. Her dance training naturally steered her interest to the world of somatic movement practices, anatomy and kinesiology. With a passion for observing and engaging with the moving body, and the desire to keep exploring different approaches to movement education and practices, Raquel became a Certified Pilates Instructor through BodyTonic under Jennifer DeLuca and Candice Thompson. As an instructor she aims to combine the wholeness and mindbody subtleties of somatic awareness, with the strength, alertness, and readiness of pilates. Through body-connectivity, precision, exploration and challenges she invites her clients to connect to their own mechanics, intensities and patterns, and find out for themselves how empowering that awareness can be.
Raquel also holds a BA in Communication and Arts of the Body from PUC-São Paulo, Brazil, and is a Laban/Bartenieff Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York.
